The Inn at 202 Dover

"...On Valentine's Day 2007, a restaurant-open to the public, as well as our guests-made its debut under the watchful eye of Jorge Alvarez," says Shelby. But make no mistake, the Inn at 202 Dover isn't just an upscale B&B. It's more like the Buckingham Palace of inns. (Indeed, there is a traditional high tea served on Thursday afternoons.) But for those who think "Victorian B&B" means heavy red-velvet draperies, clunky furniture, and cutesy bric-a-brac, think again. Today, there are four themed suites and one adjoining bedroom on the first two floors, along with a library, sitting room, music room with a baby grand piano, the couple's office, and the restaurant and kitchen. The Mitchells also added a conservatory. The third floor serves as the innkeepers' residence, and the elegantly maintained grounds-designed by New York City landscape architect Eileen Imber-have hosted more than one wedding. "

History Repeats - Our writer discovers a regal new B&B in historic Easton...

The Chesapeake MagazineSmack-dab in the heart of Easton is a formidable circa-1874 colonial revival mansion that’s long been known as the Wrightson House to everyone in town but me—a Wrightson. While growing up, I knew it as a doctors’ office and most recently as a dilapidated apartment building. Only months ago did I learn that in the 1800s, it belonged to my ancestor Charles T. Wrightson, who co-owned Shannahan & Wrightson Hardware (the first place on the Shore to sell cars, as well as the site of the town’s first gas pump)... READ MORE

Inn Style: RETURN TO GLORY
Written By: Stefan Braham

Ron and Shelby Mitchell resurrected a weary mansion in historic Easton, reborn as the Inn at 202 Dover. Almost 140 years ago, construction began on one of the most stately mansions ever built in historic Easton. For many years, the residence known as The Wrightson House was one of the finest representations of Colonial Revival architecture in Talbot County. As time passed however, the once-glamorous estate had been transformed from a residence into medical office space, then into apartments, and possibly several other undocumented incarnations, before succumbing to the effects of time and falling into disarray... Romantic Inns and Outs: Kick-start or rekindle love within a 3-hour drive
BY MICHAEL CLEMENTS

Washington Life MagazineAbout 30 minutes into our drive from Adams Morgan to the Eastern Shore town of Chestertown, Md., my girlfriend turned to me and inquired, "What do you think defines romance?" Although at the beginning of a romantic "getaway weekend," I grasped for a rousing retort. When nothing came to mind, I fell haplessly back on the ol' male stand by, "You know, flowers and things ...
